Baby Unit

BABY UNIT - Sunshine Room - 3-20 months

This special self-contained baby unit cares for babies from the age of 3 moths to 20 months.

We pride ourselves in meeting the needs of all the babies in our care. Therefore, liasing with parents/guardians is of utmost importance to ensure that the dietary needs, sleep patterns and comforting preferences are met.

Babies at this early developmental stage need lots of visual, sound and sensory experiences. These will be provided through mobiles and toys, which are appropriate to the individual stage of the babies, to encourage playful responses and develop communication and interactive skills.

Musical experiences will be provided through singing, musical instruments and listening to songs and lullabies.

TODDLER UNIT - Rainbow Room - 20 months-3 years

This room caters for children aged approximately 20 months to 3 years. We have many different activities to offer these children who are now developing at a fast pace and are eager to experience that little bit more.

Stories, singing rhymes and conversation play an important part in helping children expand on their ever-growing vocabulary, knowledge and confidence.

Imaginative play is available on a daily basis, which may be in the form of a home corner, hairdresser, a bank or supermarket. All forms of role-play encourage social, emotional and language skills.

We hope that your child's time in Rainbow Room will provide them with a good foundation in simple colour, number and shape recognition by way of learning through play. Most of all we wish to equip them with the appropriate skills to enable them to move smoothly up to our pre-school when they are at the right stage.

The Rainbow Room

Stars Room

PRE SCHOOL - Star Room

Our pre-school unit caters for children aged 3-5 years.

As with other rooms, activities in our Pre-School rooms are based around a theme lasting between two and eight weeks depending on the interest and enthusiasm of the children.

Our Pre-School room has an ongoing curriculum which is based entirely on structured learning through play. We use varied activities such as construction toys, books and stories, tactile play, arts and crafts, role-play, drawing, computer skills, puzzles and games to achieve all the learning goals as set out in the governments Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage. The activities used in these sessions are suitable for all children and can be easily adapted (either expanded or simplified) to meet the needs of all the children. Staff give children 100% support and guidance where needed through appropriate interaction during play activities.

The children in our Pre-School are also helped to become more independent (e.g. putting on their own coats, going to the bathroom etc.) and are encouraged to use appropriate behaviour both in and out of nursery.
